No icons for catalog exes
Was there a tweak to hide the exe icons in catalog? everytime i navigate to the exes on my catalog i get a considerable delay. I can ofcourse use open command to get rid of exe icons, but checking first if a tweak exists.

Re: No icons for catalog exes
Just curious, but how many apps do you have in your catalog? I've not noticed much of a delay, but admittedly I don't have that many apps.
In fact I'm still hoping we'll see the ability to assign custom icons soon, so my scripts which do some pre-processing and then launch apps can show relevant icons.

Re: No icons for catalog exes
I have some 20+ exes and sometimes it takes up to 10 seconds and during this time XY shows Not responding if i do something. But I see the new beta has generic icons for catalog too, will check out.TheQwerty wrote:Just curious, but how many apps do you have in your catalog? 10 seconds for 20 exes?!? Hmmm, I think you need a new computer...serendipity wrote:I have some 20+ exes and sometimes it takes up to 10 seconds and during this time XY shows Not responding if i do something. Haha.. new? whats new? i have a 4gb RAM with dual core stuff on Vista. So i think its nothing to do with my computer.admin wrote:10 seconds for 20 exes?!? By the way just make myself clear, this happens only once every session. If my exes or way down in the catalog and i try to navigate then there is this long pause until i see them, but subsequent browsing is normal. So i guess XY is fetching these icons and thats taking time. But this could be also be because of Vista as i have not checked this on XP. But then the new beta takes care of those delays. Thanks to Don.

Re: No icons for catalog exes
Do you now see the generic "application" icons for your EXEs (all the same icon)? This does not sound like a good solution...serendipity wrote:By the way just make myself clear, this happens only once every session. Oops, i spoke too early. Yes, i do not the same icons for all, i see exe specific icons even after i enable the config option "Use generic icons ...". I thought they are cached somehow thats why i dont see them.admin wrote:Do you now see the generic "application" icons for your EXEs (all the same icon)? Same here! So if all icons look as before (and it seems so here) then there is no need to make the new setting optional. If it's faster I will simply hardcode it.serendipity wrote:Oops, i spoke too early. Re: No icons for catalog exes
Cool, but are you sure XY is not fetching the icons? Strange that icons are still shown yet it can be faster. Can you explain this? What if i had an icon from an exe thats on network? I will do some tests and get back.admin wrote:Same here! So if all icons look as before (and it seems so here) then there is no need to make the new setting optional. Re: No icons for catalog exes
Well, just tested "with" and "without" that option after restart and it is much faster now, but how did you do it? and how is XY fetching the icons without delay now? ofcourse you should hardcode this then.serendipity wrote:Cool, but are you sure XY is not fetching the icons? Re: No icons for catalog exes
I'm asking myself the same questions. I thought I know something about icon retrieval after fighting with it for years. Well, right now I'm not looking at the code (it will be easy to solve the "mystery"), but anyway: Your posting resulted in a nice improvement!serendipity wrote:Cool, but are you sure XY is not fetching the icons? Well, as long as it works towards speed then any mysterious code is fine with me. Did you learn some mysterious codes from India?admin wrote:I'm asking myself the same questions.
