Hi, I've been using for a week XYplorer, and I've noticed that the application freezes frequently when navigating through folders. I specially notice large freezes when I have videos in the folder. For example, if I try to rename or delete one file, in most cases XYplorer freezes for a second or more and then works fine. This is quite annoying.
I'm using Vista 32 bits, dual core system and 2 GB of Ram.
In XYplorer I use the View List option, and I don't use the preview panel. I have only 3 pannels activated: Catalog, tree and the default explorer window. I usually have only 2 tabs opened.
Can some of you give me some tips about this?
Thank you in advance for your help.

It may not all be relevant but could you give some more details on your situation? Such as folder sizes, file types, folder type (network or not), OS, etc.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Re: XYplorer freezes for some seconds in folders
Hi, it happens specially with video files. It doesn't matter if I have 1 video or if I have 100 videos in a folder. The size of the videos is between 350 and 600 MB. Sometimes It happens too in folders with executables files (for example a folder with a setup installer of a software and a txt file with its description). These folders are usually less than 10 MB.j_c_hallgren wrote:It may not all be relevant but could you give some more details on your situation? The folders are from my hard drive (not in network). I don't have any problems with windows default explorer. It happens only with XYplorer.
As for the OS, etc. I told that in my first post.
Thanks for your help.

hmmm... I don't know if this is related or not, but I remember seeing XY using a lot of CPU on folders of mine whenever I would move the mouse pointer around, something I fixed by enabling option "Show tip only when hovering file icon" on Configuration - File Info Tips -- maybe that could be help you too here?

Do you have an anti-virus running?
Try disabling it to see if helps.

Hi jacky, thank you very much. You have found the problemjacky wrote:hmmm... I have activated the same option and now XYplorer works fine. I fact now it only freezes when I move the cursor over icons. So definitely the problem is the tooltips.
Why do tooltips consume so much CPU? In windows standard explorer it works without problems.

I suspect that it may be due to XY extracting more info from the file than WE does, as XY tooltip shows some fields that are more typically only shown via Properties tab...and on a large file, this could take longer than on a small file...I've noticed the same thing but to a much lesser extent as my files are not nearly as large.platanos wrote:Why do tooltips consume so much CPU?
