Add a few menu items

Post by lastnikita »

Open in new tab in folder's context menu for file panel too !
it only works in the tree panel currently..

Optimize tree option when right-clicking an empty space in the tree panel would be nice too, now I must locate the current folder, right-click it then go into expansion to finally be able to optimize the tree !

Compare to file in clipboard would perfectly fit the file context menu :)

Also, I couldn't find how to display compressed folders in color, but I may have miss something, will look further.

The only reason I can think of why to not do so: The size of that context menu already is quite large, and users may have other custom entries as well.

Right now, both menus are somewhat balanced in size and it's just as approp where it is as File, I think...there was a bit of discussion before about this type of thing, such as http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2763 and the prior thread that is linked from it, as well as http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2558

Maybe it's up to my configuration, but it's not large for me, about 400pix high..

I agree on the location point, but do believe it'd be convenient if that particular item fit the file context menu.. maybe in the To clipboard submenu then, so that it won't take any more room :D
Indeed I missed the obvious..
Just 2 checkboxes to tick, thanks I feel much better now :D

The "To Clipboard" submenu would not be correct as that is reserved for items to be placed on the clipboard, not actions of the current file with it, ok?
File vs Edit could possibly be argued in that some functions really are a toss-up but I think (my guess/recall) Edit won here as it's more of a function dealing with the contents of the file vs the file itself...

Glad I was able to solve your color issue at least!

one can always find solutions when the aim is to improve user experience ;)

you can place an item as reference in that submenu if there is no file in clipboard yet, this is ok right ?
when there's already a file in clipboard, that item turns into for comparison, both files get compared and the result/log is stored on the clipboard, in addition to beeing shown. Even better !

you can still let the compare with clipboard item out of the submenu, at root, there's enough room for it !

Anyway, if I remember correctly the custom context menus aren't far away, so my problem will be solved one way or another I guess :)
