ctrl+space is not customizable?

Post by kartal »

Hi

I would like to use shortcuts like ctrl+space, shift+space. They are one of the best shortcuts around. And XYP is not letting me assign them. Is there any particular reason why? I can use thes ein other apps no problem at all.

I know that some keys (like Enter, escape etc) were made un-assignable for obvious reasons. However, i can't remember what was the reason in this case. I know shift+space is used to restart audio file preview and ctrl+space for focusing or unfocusing an item. Hmmm seems to me like both are harmless keys and should be assignable, unless i have missed the obvious here. Have to wait and see if anybody remembers why.

I'm thinking Ctrl+Space is a standard for selecting/unselecting items, and that's why it can't be reassigned, just like (Ctrl+)Arrow keys or Enter, yes.

These keys have hard-coded functions in specific contexts. It would complicate the interface and the documentation if I'd free them.
