Use of # symbol in search term

I am having issues with use of the # character in a search term. It seems it will not match a single digit even it is known that more than one is there to be found.

*-?.jp* found 4 with *-2.jpg
*-#.jp* found 0
*-[#].jp* found 0

Please read up on Quick Search in the help and note the /E switch in the description (Enforce Extended Pattern Matching).

I am using Info Panel Find Files, and not Quick Search.

Does that make any difference?

Yes and it looks like this is a bug.

Works fine here.

Either tick Configuration | Find and Filter | Find Files & Branch View | Find Files | Enable extended pattern matching

Or append /E as RalphM already suggested.

Searching only for one digit now works just fine.

I am now trying to search for 3 digits, 2 digits, and one digit. I have tried separating the search terms with 'pipe' characters but this is not working. I tried both the traditional '¦' pipe and the new '|' one but neither of them work.

*-###.jp*|*-##.jp*|*-#.jp*

*-###.jp* OR *-##.jp* OR *-#.jp* *-###.jp* | *-##.jp* | *-#.jp* *-###.jp*;*-##.jp*;*-#.jp*
