:info: Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

address bar navigation through symbolic links

Post by mvincenzes »

XYPlorer Version: 28.30.1300
Windows: all of 7, 10, 11
Screen Scaling: ??? unknown, can't imagine that it matters for this

type, for example the following in the address bar
v:\NAS\Audio\Downloads

then display will not change
v:\NAS\Audio is a symbol link (with mklink) to \\mvDisk3\Audio.

typing "v:\NAS\Audio" will show the proper directory, and then I can click on "Downloads" in the list
and list will switch to the proper Downloads dir.

Why cant I navigate through a symbolic link in the address bar? It works with windows explorer

This should be checked: Configuration | General | Controls & More | Miscellaneous | Resolve junctions

Thanks, resolve junctions is checked / set
I can add that even as I am typing the path, I see the popup suggestions of the folders in the directory, I can select out of the pick list,
etc decending into the folder structure. But when I pick the final choice and hit "return" nothing happens, the cursor stays in the address box, hitting "return" does nothing.

Did you already try to uncheck this setting?

I had not tried unchecking, but doing so does fix the behavior to what I wanted.
I want to keep the logical name, not resolve.

my application is that I have several machines and a NAS and I have set up the same
link structure on all of them, both in windows, (with V:\) and the WLS2 and Mac OS with a /volume/...
set of links.

Thanks for the help.
