Custom Folder Icon Path Escapes

I have a folder path with brackets "[]" in the name of the folder. It looks like this is preventing custom folder icons from working.
Does anyone know how to escape these character? I've tried a number of escape methods but haven't found one that works.
Here's the line from the custom icon window

Not tested but when [ needs to be escaped, [[] is normally used
