I'm sure you've been expecting this Don, so it's finally being requested...
I'd like to see the ability to define Folder View Settings for the special list modes (Drives, Find, Network). I know I'm in the minority in that I value seeing more files than details and thus use List view the majority of the time, but I'd prefer Drives and Find default to Details. FVS is the perfect solution!
I think this would all be quite feasible, but it would also require some GUI changes. I'd suggest the following...
On the Edit FVS Dialog remove the "Make Default" button and add a drop down list above the pattern definition. The list would contain 5 options: Custom (Default Selection); Default; Drives; Find; Network
The text field to enter a pattern and the "Include subfolders" checkbox would be disabled or hidden unless Custom is selected, like now for the default view.
If the user selects one of the special definitions, which already has a FVS definition, I think a prompt after OK that says "A FVS for this mode already exists. Would you like to overwrite it with these settings?" would be fine.
I don't really see the need to modify the menu for these changes, other than it would need to become enabled on the special list modes.
Also, currently, I shed a tear every time I click Edit from Manage Views and don't get the Edit View dialog. Will we see this become possible?
FVS for special list modes.

Re: FVS for special list modes.
I knew this was coming, but right now I don't have the head for this. I confess, I'm slightly carried away by developing the script language...
Just a quick question: You want a special list mode for search results? This works already! Or at least it is supposed to work. I use a locked search results tab and it remembers it's setup completely.
I don't think we need FVS for this job. But as I said, I might not be focused enough on this right now...

You know, I just listed off all three modes, but I never really paid enough attention to realize that the locked search results tab does keep its setting.admin wrote:I knew this was coming, but right now I don't have the head for this. Though if the other Search Results settings don't I think most users would like them to.
Setting these up through FVS would make the most sense to me, but if you end up coming up with something better that'll be good too!
