XYplorer64 TB v27.90.0020 - Right click causes constant crashes.

I keep on getting crashes many times a day when I either right click to bring up the context menu.
Should I upload my settings file or something?
Thanks for your help.

You could start by answering some obvious questions:

1) Does it happen every time? If not, how often (percentage)?
2) Right-click on which file or file type?
3) Is only one file selected or more?
4) Does it happen only in a particular location?
5) Does it also happen if you tick Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Usability | Context Menus | Hide shell extensions from shell context menu ?

Ok, sorry, I wasn't sure what info to add as it seems pretty random!
1. Around 10-20%
2. I haven't noticed, I'll keep an eye on it and try to narrow this down. I am not certain, but don't believe it to be a certain type, could be wrong.
3. It can be a single item or multiple.
4. Any location it seems, though I have primarily been working on D drive. Never had this issue with the VB version, so unlikely it would be the drive itself.
5. I will test and let you know.

Thanks for the quick response

EDIT: Forgot to add, it mostly seems to happen when copy and pasting, but quite often it is also when I just right click. Perhaps this could be linked to a previous copy though?

I changed that settings to Hide Shell Extensions. Was working until now.
I've selected a bunch of AU3 source files, and two folders containing some files.
Right clicked and got an error. I can only click ok to close the window.
I can carry on with other things, but I want to copy those files to the right hand pane, but everytime I right click on them, I get that erro window keep popping up.
Does that help?

The error in this case seems to be linked to that ISN file: X-Launcher_x64.isn
If I select that file alone, I can right click it. But if I select even one other file with that one, it gives the error.
I've selected any two files in that folder and it only gives an error when I include that file as one of them.
Weird as that file is just a simple plain text file.

EDIT: I tried restarting Windows Explorer and XYplorer64, then tried selecting all files, except the ISN file, still get the error. Seems that folders or the contents of them is having an effect. If I select one folder and one file, I get the error. But I can right click any single folder or any single file without issue. CTRL+C and CTRL+V works fine.

I guess you have some misbehaving shell context menu extension.
Use the NirSoft ShellExView and disable any non-Microsoft extensions.
Then enable them again, one by one, to find the culprit.

I only have 3:
WinRAR
FileMenuTools
SandBoxiePlus

If I used Hide Shell Extensions then they shouldn't be the problem? These tools are mature enough to not be causing issues like that, surely?
Also, the XY32 works fine.

I tried using ShellExView, but the issue has since disappeared for now.

So we have two different cases here:

1) Crash on context menu. Goes away if you tick "Hide Shell Extensions". Correct?

2) Automation error. Only on ISN files if combined with any other file. Correct?

BTW, are you really using the context menu to copy files? :eh: That's what people in offices do. Normal people use Ctrl+C.

Crashes on context menu - yes.
Error on ISN files - No. I edited my earlier post:

Yes, I often use right click to copy and paste, cos I can't be arsed with keyboard shortcuts. Sometimes it's quicker. By the time I look down at my keyboard to find the keys, I could've right clicked and selected copy, the only part that is slightly quicker would be paste afterwards, there's really naf all in it, so I often switch between methods. If I am continually copy and pasting, I use the keyboard. but for single copy/paste, I tend to use mouse.

I can't reproduce any of it.

You still did not give a clear answer to:
5) Does it also happen if you tick Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Usability | Context Menus | Hide shell extensions from shell context menu ?

Well, I did, but I can't tell as I don't know if the error was in place of the crash or something else entirely? I just supplied the info I had:

That's still confusing. Are you aware that there is a difference between an error and a crash? Please read my question thoroughly and reply thoroughly. It is a simple yes/no question referring to the topic of this thread (hint: crash).

Apologies for the confusion, I thought I made it clear but I see it isn't!
Ok, so changing the setting stopped the crash and I instead got the error message posted above.
Since then, I reverted the setting as I needed those context menu items to be shown, but have had no more crashes or error messages.
Not much help, I know, I''ll repost here if I can provide any further help on this.

Okay, thanks.

I will have to consult the TB guys later about that damn context menu-induced crash. I think there should be a more graceful way to handle this.

Just to let you know, no more crashes since then, at least not regular. I have had one or two, but nowhere near as bad as before.
