This is a strange thing. A few weeks back I had a tidy-up in XYPlorer reorganizing my Tree.
In Microsoft Windows Explorer (File Manager) I do not see the duplicate tree.
In XYPlorer every folder in the tree is duplicated. On startup of XYPlorer I get the message: Location Currently Not Available.
I am not running on a network - just a single standalone laptop.
I suspect the Root - as I will call it of the tree where I have everything filed/stored is a virtual one, because as I say, it does not show-up in Windows Explorer.
I do not want to delete it for obvious reasons (stupidity/ignorance on my part and being in a worse place after that). I do have a backup but clearly it is not easy to see which is the 'Real Root of My Tree and which is not.
Is there a setting in Configuration that might fix this?

Show a screenshot of your XY tree?
And you are sure you are not using the mini tree?

Re: Location Currently Not Available and Duplicate Folders Now Showing in/at the Root of My Tree
I'm not using Mini Tree on start-up of XYPlorer
Discovered today (31st July 2025) some sort of Virtual Tree thing going on. I have no idea how to fix this. I tend to think this is most likely the cause.
It does not occur in Windows Explorer, so I guess unique to XYPlorer.

From your screenshot: Not every folder, only root folders in a drive letter (here: D:\)?In XYPlorer every folder in the tree is duplicated.
What's entered here: Configuration | General | Startup & Exit | Permanent startup pathOn startup of XYPlorer I get the message: Location Currently Not Available.
?
Does
$$PendingFiles exist as a string in your XYplorer.ini file?One of my scripts helped you out? Please donate via Paypal
Re: Location Currently Not Available and Duplicate Folders Now Showing in/at the Root of My Tree
You asked if the following - $$PendingFiles occurs in my XYPlorer.ini file: Yes
It occurs twice as:
LookIn4=D:\$$PendingFiles\
65=D:\$$PendingFiles\
You asked:
What's entered here: Configuration | General | Startup & Exit | Permanent startup path

Re: Location Currently Not Available and Duplicate Folders Now Showing in/at the Root of My Tree
Do you really think it helps giving key names without their belonging section?
[LookIn] / [mruBrowse]?
And the startup folder really exists?
What happens if you:
- 01. Quit XY, make a copy of your XYplorer.ini file, delete the original, start XY
- 02. With original XYplorer.ini file again: Quit XY, make a copy of your Panes folder in your XY data folder, delete the Panes folder, start XY
Same defunct tree in both cases?

Re: Location Currently Not Available and Duplicate Folders Now Showing in/at the Root of My Tree
Sorry all of this is a steep learning curve for me
Thank you for your continued help
I hope I have copied in the whole section:
[LookIn]
LookIn4=D:\$$PendingFiles\
AND:
[mruBrowse]
65=D:\$$PendingFiles\
Startup folder
I found this in the ini file
15="vi:<xypath>\Startup.ini|<xypath>\XYplorer.exe"
How do I get the original ini file back in to XYPlorer - the one with all my settings in?
Somehow I ended up with XXPlorer going back onto my machine as 'evaluation' etc.
I put my licence key in etc and now all of my customisation settings have gone
On launch I get a very 'bare-bones version on screen
I have tried several times to copy in the ini file I saved
However, I cannot seem to get it to work
What am I doing wrong?
I saved it to a folder outside of XYPlorer so do I need to copy the whole path and paste that into the root of XYPlorer which is under a master folder called Programs and on my D Patition
It will be a real lengthy pain to have to customise XYPlorer from scratch
Thanks for any assistance you can provide with this

Wtf...
And then replace the
text <xydata>;And then replace the
XYplorer.ini in that path with your original one while XY is NOT running?One of my scripts helped you out? Please donate via Paypal
Re: Location Currently Not Available and Duplicate Folders Now Showing in/at the Root of My Tree
I'm so sorry you have lost me with:
text <xydata>;
Where do I find this or put it - I'm totally lost, i.e. not understanding the nomenclature of text <xydata>;
I can understand this:
"And then replace the XYplorer.ini in that path with your original one while XY is NOT running?"
On thinking about this - I know I forgot to copy the panes folder you mentioned - probably because I had no idea where to find it.
I think I am, maybe, just maybe, for once I am being true to my pseudonym on the forum here - nogenius
Oh, well, at least we have made some progress. XYPlorer no longer starts up with Location not available, and seemingly we no longer have a duplicate of where I have everything stored.
I am a scientist and engineer by training but somehow I don't think I will make it to the level of being a Rocket Scientist.

No clue what you really did, no clue if the problem is solved, no clue if you've followed the points 01. and 02. from viewtopic.php?p=231276#p231276
...
And the XYplorer.ini and the Panes folder is in the path that the above script command outputs^^

text <xydata>; is a script command and can be executed from the address bar or via Menu - Scripting - Run Script...And the XYplorer.ini and the Panes folder is in the path that the above script command outputs^^

Re: Location Currently Not Available and Duplicate Folders Now Showing in/at the Root of My Tree
Good News!
All is back as it was. This is a big relief for me.
After about an hour or more trying to figure out how to get the original config ini file into roaming etc - then finally it was Bingo!
Fired up XYPlorer and at about 22.35hrs UK time on Thursday 31st July 2025 I now have XYPlorer working as it should do and did do.
Many thanks for all your help and being patient with me as I fumbled around barely knowing what I was doing.
Again, many thanks for your help and support it is much appreciated, and I hope I am not back on this Forum for some while - fingers crossed.
