Column Names

Post by Quaraxkad »

I may have made a mistake here... I have 7 custom columns I use. I wanted to clean up the Custom Columns list by getting rid of ones I don't use, so I deleted the default 10-or-so columns and replaced them with my own. I had to re-configure all my saved folder views and column sets, since each column is now in a new position in the list (ie. column 1 is now what used to be column 11). After doing all that, I realized that the column headers can not be renamed.

It seems that the first 10 columns that are included by default are *not* the same as the other 54, and their headings can not be renamed?

Just right click the column header for the column and select "Configure Custom Column #" and rename it in there, or you can rename them all from here:

Configuration | Information | Custom Columns

Press Edit... button.

I should have been more specific. I know I can still change the names there, but in my case three of the columns would then be named the same and I have no way to tell which is which. I have three different Length columns, which I want the column headers for all to be "Len", but they are not all the same (different media/folders/column sets) so I need to differentiate them with longer descriptive names. Columns 11-64 all allow you to use either the default descriptive name as the header or customize it, 1-10 appear to only allow you to use the full descriptive column name.

Yes you should have been more specific., It is correct, that they are different in that case, there are other differences as well, you should use 11+ for those columns if you need that function.
