XYplorer Beta Club

I've installed XYplorer on a new machine, and this version, 27.00, does not seem to save settings. I've made a backup of my settings and have to restore that configuration (File/Settings Special/Load Configuration) every time I start XYplorer. When I start XYplorer, it goes back to default settings. OS is Windows 11 Pro.

What happens when you click File | Save Settings?

Nothing apparent happens. If I then close XYplorer and reopen, default settings are used again and I must use File => Settings Special => Load Configuration... again to load my saved settings. If it matters, I have XYplorer installed in a folder of my choice, and the saved settings I load is in yet another folder.

Try editing or creating a Startup.ini if it doesn't exist, for instructions run this from the addressbar,
the file goes in your XYplorer folder alongside the exe.

Or if you load your settings file manually first and then run this script, it should create it for you (untested)

I already have a startup.ini in the XYplorer folder with the [Appdata] section with one line: Path=%appdata%\XYplorer

You mention running something from the "addressbar". What addressbar are you talking about?
In your second option, you suggest "run this script". Run this script using what program? Powershell?

In any case, I still have the problem and do not see any reasonable way out of it. This situation did NOT happen before I upgraded to 27.00.

If you proceed with this method, I recommend make sure you have a current backup first. When XY first starts with default settings, try running the below command instead of Load Configuration which you have been using:

File | Settings Special | Restore Application Data Folder...

I am assuming your original backup was of the whole data folder not just the ini. Some more info on an alternate method if required:

I've deleted the saved application folder, started from scratch, and nothing has changed. My v27.00 just won't remember it's configuration. Seems weird as I know earlier versions worked fine for me
