Tab folder Icons

Post by noembryo »

Just updated to 26.80.0404 and I don't know if this is a bug or a feature ( ), but in this screenshot
z.png
The red ball icon is my custom icon I use for the folders.
The yellow icons are the default windows icon for the folders.
These folders are Symbolic links and they were displayed like all the other folders previously.

Do I miss something?

Can't reproduce.

Show your icon definition and tell us more about those Symbolic links.

Is the wrong icon only shown in the tab headers?

Yes.
Something else that didn't change by this beta, but since we are here.. :titter:

The Symbolic link folders all get the "Empty folder" icon..
Which I understand since they don't actually contain anything, but, it would be nice if they used the normal icons too..

I don't think it's a bug. Look again, play with your definitions, you'll eventually see what's causing it.

If you are referring to a 2 > 3 swap (in the icon definition), I have to say that I can't do it, since it will make the empty folders use the normal icon..
Or are you referring to something totally different?

I don't know, it could be anything (other than a bug).

I meant the tab icons. Only you can find the cause, and you will. Use logic.

The problem is that it used to work differently in 26.40.0300.
So I must check what is changed in the last versions.
But this is missing "info".. and you say "logic"..
Hmm. :maf:

You tested 26.40.0300 now and with the same settings and in the same environment and it's different from 26.80.0404?

This was the version I used up until the last update, but now that you said it like this, I went ahead and replaced it (always keep a backup archive.. ;) ) with the 26.40.0300, and sure enough there was no problem there..

Just saw that 26.40.0300 is quite old. I first only looked at the build and thought we're talking about 26.80.0300.

I think this is what's happening:
1) Since 20241010, CFI for junctions are done for the junction targets.
2) Your custom icon for folders uses the /f switch (f for filled), so it only applies to non-empty folders.
3) The targets of these junctions are empty, so they don't get the icon.

So, what you currently see is correct, whereas 26.40.0300 was wrong.

Which get us to the second thing I've mentioned..
Wouldn't be better for the "Junctions" to be considered filled, since the "target" folders actually are filled?
