Tip of the Week

Post by Choja »

Being new, I'm really keen to learn what this program can do...

What are your thoughts on kicking off a Tip of the Week?

One of the more experienced users post a tip and the rest of us learn, rate and provide comment/analysis...

Waddya fink?

Sounds like a GREAT idea! And if the original tip can be improved on, then others maybe can post that, and we all can learn from it...hey, there have been a few times when Don has found out via jacky that XY can do something he didn't realize!

So it wouldn't have to be someone who has years of experience, but just a few months would be of benefit to someone brand new.

And even as a user of 2.7 yrs, there are features that I use only on rare occasion or not at all, so even I could benefit from a reminder on some of those features/tips.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Funny! I was thinking about a tip of the week as well some days ago! Not only that, I already started to create a logo for this!

In my vision it was not a feature presentation but an actual use case (which might involve a sequence of features cleverly used). Could be a tiny thing (but a spectacular time saver nonetheless!). For example "How to copy an image to the clipboard without even opening the file!" (You don't know how? You'll find out tomorrow! hehe... )
Of course, the tips should be on something that only XYplorer can do. That, of course, will reduce the possibilities to a mere 20,000... :)

I would make this a part of the homepage, not of the forum. But the forum could be the laboratory...

Exactly! This could then showcase more than one feature at a time!

Or just do better/easier than the alternatives! Comparing how it might take 5 steps in Win Expl and/or use of other app's vs 1 step in XY, etc...

But we'd still have the forum to improve on it...

A nice feature. :) The only thing I'm missing is the possibility to assign a CKS.

 Yeah, of course it's nothing important. I just mentioned it in case you forgot to implement it because of all the things you have to do (new help, dual boot system, etc.). Bon appétit!
