XY Access to Android via Network
Win 11
XY 26.70.0500
I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and over my local LAN I am able to access the phones internal file system with Win File Explorer but not with XY.
The tree is unlocked and Show portable devices is enabled.
Any other settings I might be missing?

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
Can't explain. It should work.
When you click the "..." button at Configuration | General | Startup & Exit | Permanent startup path, is it listed in the Browse for Folder dialog that pops up?

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
MTP transfer (or "file transfer" or whatever they call it) must be enabled on the phone.

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
The only reference to MTB or file transfer is relative to using a USB connection.
I found this under Developer Options and enabled it but it didn't help
. Also, from my PC I shared the cell phone internal storage folder.
I gave the share full control to all users
Then using a UNC with the PC as the host, it appears up as a folder under the PC.
However, no contents are displayed

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
Could that be a rights thing? Did you try starting XY as admin?

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
Right, I had tried that but no luck.
Here's another view. Apparently Windows represents the portable drive as a an internal folder.
But XY doesn't show the device in the folder

Check if you have Junctions enabled in here:

Yes! We're getting there...but after a restart, it still doesn't show up in the tree

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
I finally have a solution-
Established the folder as a share with full permissions for everyone
Mapped a drive using the UNC
While the phone doesn't appear as a device as it does with File Explorer, I have the same easy RW access
Also, I do not need to load XY as Admin
Thanks for your patience!

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
Good. But I don't understand why the previous solution (junctions) did not work after a restart.

Re: XY Access to Android via Network
Once junctions were enabled I assume that the OP then incorrectly expected it to also show up in the tree (after a restart) as a portable device same as in Explorer, instead of it just becoming browsable via the junction.
