Ok this is possibly bordering on impossible but..
FVS opens up some great features but is folder oriented
If one could have 'contained in a folder' option and a mixed display then XY would become unique in that a folder having some files displayed, for example, in details format and others in thumbnail form all at the same time. This would enable a user to immediately see the relevant info about a file - if it were a jpg for example the thumbnail is of more importance but for an exe file details more important.
Feasible?

Re: mixed views
uh? you mean have at the same time on the same List both items showed in Details mode and others as Thumbs ??
No I don't think that's possible. Actually, I don't even see how this could be possible, I mean, what : a big thumbnail in the middle of a detailed list ?? wouldn't that just look pretty ugly and waste an incredible amount of space ??

Re: mixed views
Mixed view would be a user option and the size of thumbnail need not be that large, sufficient to provide content recognition. When scanning folders with mixed types especially those that give good visual information (eg png, jpg) in thumbnail form then I think it has value. Yes space is important according to need and in the case of a basic details view you want as much as possible to be seen in the available space but in the case of an (optional) mixed view you are not interested in quantity per pane so much as visually seeing the content which in the case of a jpg can be difficult to define as a file name.
A picture is worth .... comes to mind.

You have already "details with thumbnails" -- that's as mixed as it can get.graham wrote:Mixed view would be a user option and the size of thumbnail need not be that large, sufficient to provide content recognition. I am still after all this time finding my way round XY - its your fault for having so many features! My apologies
I agree it does not look pretty but has its uses - Is there no way XY can test and if no thumbnail use just a single spacing?

Re: mixed views
The interaction with the list (mouse, scrollbar) relies on equal row / column dimensions. You won't find other lists easily, because they are harder to program (while not impossible).graham wrote:admin wrote
