Nice. My first impression is "I like it!". But in Opera browser when you click on code: select all (i tried in beta versions section), then every text below "select all" tag gets selected. IE properly selects only the code. How about Firefoxers?

Works fine in FF. I'm not sure I like that there's scrolling in the changelogs that way, but I guess I'll just have to get used to it, much like this new "theme".

Although, I think I would like it if new/unread topics could be a bit more noticeable/highlighted. Right now they only have the "text" part in red it seems, if the background could actually change color or something that might be better. I just feel it was (much) easier to catch new/unread topics with the old version...

PS: Seems to work flawlessly, nicely done!

Humm...it's definitely going to take some getting used to...

The main thing I see is that with this color scheme, it's not nearly as easy to read as before...and with my current eye situation, that's definitely a problem!

I'm not sure exactly what makes the difference, but I think it's that there seems to be bit less contrast between background and text, and the background seems a bit darker than before.

Also, I think the font used is not as eye-friendly as it was, or maybe that's just because of the contrast? On my LCD, it's very hard to read compared to before.

Could there be some other choices in color scheme that might have more contrast, but still use this basic color scheme (blue)? And without the alternating zebra stuff?

Update: Here's another forum that uses prior vers still for comparison side-by-side:
http://www.safelyremove.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40

The quote's before were more in white and now they are gray..that also makes reading more difficult for me, as does the use of blue text in places where it used to be black.

Wow, big change! For me it'll take a little getting used to...not that it's bad, not at all, just new, and new things need some adjustment time. The one thing I don't think I'll get used to is out on the main Board Index. For me it's very hard to tell which forums have unread threads. I don't know if it's my color-blindness or what, but I really have to stare at the icons to tell which ones I need to go in and read. Other than that I think it's good! After a week or so I'll be completely acclimated, I'm sure.

A couple of things I'd like to see from the old version:
- Full text of posts (esp. in the beta threads -- having to scroll is not nearly as nice!)
- Path listing at the bottom of the page as well (i.e. the "Board index ‹ User ‹ Tips & Tricks, Questions & Answers") line so I can jump directly up to the forum index or the board index without having to scroll to the top of the page (big timesaver for me)

Other than that, I think I'll get used to the new look, though it's certainly different!

Under the "Post reply" at bottom of page is a direct link to index for current sub-forum, plus there is a drop-down at right where one can go to any level...and there is a link to board index at very bottom left of page.

Well, it seems that links with an anchor don't work for me, that is I'm not scrolled down to position within the page, so whenever I open a link with a #unread or #p1234 nothing happens, I stay on top and need to manually scroll down :?

Actually, it seems to be working in IE. I am however using Firefox (3.0.1) and it doesn't work there :(

(To keep things weird though, it does work when writing a post and using preview, then it does scroll down a bit (#preview). But when I click links to go to either the last or first unread post, no scrolling

EDIT: Oh yeah, I assume it will probably be back with the XY logo/box, but there is no more link to www.xyplorer.com right now, is there?

Another good thing is that now it's possible to report comments...just in case...

Okay, thanks for your comments! Summary answer:

- I did not configure anything yet. What you see is how it comes out of the box.
- I looked through the configuration options (many more than before) but could not find anything about scrolling versus full text display. IE 6 never shows scrolls whereas FireFox does. Strange.
- Fonts and colors: I just loaded an additional alternative style ("Subsilver2"). You should be able to select that style within your private profile (User Control Panel / Board Preferences). Maybe you like it better: it looks quite like the old one. I'm sure there are many more styles for this forum to be downloaded somewhere. If you see a good one, tell me and I will install it for you.
- the link to XYplorer homepage in the title bar is not possible anymore with this version of phpBB :( I will look for another way...

Let's wait some days until the new look and feel becomes more familiar. Then see what has to be changed.

Oh, awesome!! That subSilver2 theme is much like the old one, aka it rocks! ;)

- Much easier to read, I think jc will like it.
- Unread posts I assume (haven't seen it yet) are dealt with as with the old one, so it should be all good.
- The anchor/scrolling thing now works for me with it, yeah!
- Beta changelog (code blocks): no more scrolling to do! yeah again
- There's even the "path listing" at the bottom of the page as well

Thanks! :D

:D As the song said: "My eyes adore you!" :D
YES!!!! Tried that and I'll once again be able to read the forum with ease!
THANKS SO MUCH!

BTW, I also like the new "View active topics" link that summarizes the various sub-forums threads!

Same here. While I like parts of the design, I find the icons (and also the smilies) very ugly and dysfunctional, and as you say: new posts are hard to locate. Also the main page is far too crowded and AFAIK there's no way to change this in configuration!

I'll look for another style...
