HTML Help User Forum button not working

Post by jupe »

Maybe this only happens to me, but I noticed by accident that the "User Forum" button/link no longer works in the HTML Help window, it goes to a "Can't reach this page" error page. I went back through some old testing versions I had lying around and between these versions it stopped working for me, I haven't narrowed down further.

hi! it appears the link in the help file is set for http:// and not https://. for me, using firefox, it redirects properly so the link from the help does work. is it possible your browser redirect or "https mode" is not working or disabled ?

Not sure what Firefox has to do with it, I am speaking specifically about the HTML Help app, is that what you are testing?

But yes the link in the actual document is to http, but that shouldn't matter because the server should auto upgrade if configured properly, but that could probably do with updating too since on this subject.

Confirmed. I'm not aware of any related changes, and I don't see anything in my Help editor that could change the behavior of this button. It should just open the web page. I'm also surprised that in previous versions of Help, the website opens embedded in the Help window, and with the wrong font. It's all crappy. CHM is just completely abandoned by MS. I think I'll just remove the button. :om:

I have no idea about how these links should look like in chm, but this is what I see (with 26.10) - somehow I did not expect to see such a thing:

Same here. No idea why, I did not change anything AFAIK. In the last beta I removed that button, so it should not happen anymore.
