switch to / retry help

I recently upgraded to xyplorer ver. 26.00 from ver. 22.70.

Since I upgraded xyplorer has been unusable. Every time I go to a directory that has thumbnails, I get a Switch to / retry" dialog and I must go to taskman and kill xyplorer.
I uninstalled xyplorer, downgraded back to 22.70 and same problem. Reinstalled 26.00 but this issue persists, and it is driving me mad. I tried some other file managers and Windows explorer, and I don't have that problem with them.

I am at a loss what to do or try. Please help me. Thank you.

I've seen this dialog, but only rarely. I hate it as much as you do, I've searched the web up and down and found nothing to stop Windows, specifically the shell image factory, from doing this. However, clicking "Switch to" always ends the problem.

Your thumbnails *may* be a little slower, some file types *may* not get thumbnails at all (there are too many factors involved to make any predictions).
