Floating Preview back and forward

Post by ... »

How can I make the default mouse buttons for back and forward work in XYplorer folder navigation, when the floating preview window is open?
When the floating preview window is open; the back and forward mouse keys work in the preview window instead of the main XYplorer navigation window.

For me, this behavior is as expected.
If you don't like it, use the 2-pane layout with the preview in the inactive side.
Windows 11 Home, Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7171)
Portable x64 XYplorer (Actual version, including betas)
Display settings 1920 x 1080 Scale 100%
Everything 1.5.0.1400a (x64), Everything Toolbar 2.1.0, Listary Pro 6.3.6.99

Thank you for the fast reply,
Maybe you could add an option in the configuration file? I use the floating preview on a separate monitor and would prefer to keep it open.

No such mouse here. Back and forward, that's navigation in history? What does it currently do in FP?

I'm talking about the side buttons on the mouse, I think they are usually classified as MOUSE 4 and 5. Example photo from the web - https://www.javelin-tech.com/blog/wp-co ... 6/pic9.png
They work as intended, but when the floating preview window is open; they only work within the preview window regardless if it is focused or not.
I wish I could use them for navigating the directories while having the floating preview window open.

The mouse keys switch between next and previous files when the FP is open.

Really, even if the main window is focused and the mouse is directly over it?

Yes, I click on the main window, mouse cursor on it, and the mouse keys only switch between next and previous files within the FP. Would be great, if it worked as usual when the main window is focused.

Got it. This behavior was requested and added more than 12 years ago:

Code: Select all

v11.00.0020 - 2012-05-12 17:26
+ Floating and Full Screen Preview: Added support for XButtons
(buttons 4 and 5 on a 5-button mouse, usually used for navigating
      back and forward).
I could limit it to:

1) FP is in the foreground (focused)
2) Mouse if over FP

Opinions?

But I want to use the back and forward keys for main window navigation when the FP is open... Or even better, if they could work differently, depending if the main window or the FP window is focused.
In the main window those keys navigate back and forward between directories and in FP they only navigate back and forward within the directory that the current file is open.

I think, it would be better when the FP is focused, more reliable.

I just tried it, works great. Thanks! I see you went with the "hover over" option.

I went with the "FP is in the foreground (focused)" option. Doesn't work that way? :?

(I now think, though, that the hover option is the better one...)

As it works now:
mouse over FP - mouse4+5 keys work within the FP;
mouse over main window - work within main window.
Without clicking on either of the windows.
