Setting to change Thumbnail Folder Save Behavior?

I have been trying to change the way If I am typically in list view but when i drill down to a folder that I have saved to display as thumbnails or even open up a new folder that I change to thumbnail view then if I backtrack a folder it will continue to make all the folders view as thumbnails which gets annoying often. Then only work around I found was I have to make sure to save the folder as list before I enter a new folder that I will end up changing the save mode to Thumbnails and as well when the dialog pops up during save i click No. Am I even doing that correctly?
