Just off the top of my head, I thought I'd check if in the list of freely available there is omnipresent Ctrl+Alt+Del and there it was. Just curious why a system KS (and others) like this would be made available considering that it always invokes something that an OS does or does setting it override the system value and if they're even configurable?

It may be listed there (and it may be reported by something as unbound) but you can't SET it. If you try, at least on XP, you'll just get the system CTRL-ALT-DEL response instead of "CTRL-ALT-DEL" appearing in the input box. The system apparently filters it out at some low level before the API, at least in later versions (maybe starting at 2000, since that's the first one with C-A-Del for login ... or was it NT)

My work workstation actually uses the "ctrl-alt-delete before any login" feature, which i've never enabled on any of my own, and it has a "why??" button which pops up a shpeil about how this protects you from giving your user/pass to a malicious fake login prompt because only the core system can use that key combination, or some such.

Actually you can, click on the button "All Free Shortcuts", then select it on the list & add it. Of course you won't be able to use it, still, but you can assign it...

That was kind of the point of the question: why make it available if system takes over before XYplorer reacts?

Is there more than one system combo like that? That one was a bit obvious

P.S. Also, what if you've already got a KS configured in keyboard software (like Logitech's SetPoint)?

Er, Setpoint will make your mouse send Ctrl-Alt-Squiggle, and XY will hear Ctrl-Alt-Squiggle and frobnitz. Congrats, you just bound MouseN to frobnitz. .

Also: Hadn't realized that you could just pick from the list of frees ... ^_^

Mouse? I'm not following. I only meant it for keyboard buttons

Keyboard? O_o. I've only ever been able to configure mice with setpoint. OTOH, the only logitech keyboard i've owned is my g15, and it has it's own mess of softwares.
