I am using 4.00.0117. I have a Browser Tab with 339 pictures. I have the thumbnails set at 128 x 128 pixels. Tracker creates the thumbnail cache and then says "339 new thumbs done and cached", but after re-opening Tracker it recreates the thumbnail cache again. If I go to the cache folder, it never creates the cache file. I can interrupt the cache creation (by pressing ESC) and it will create the cache file for the thumbs it had created before interruption.
Tracker does create the thumbnail cache on other Browser Tabs that contain only a few pictures.
Using Windows 2000 w/SP2.
Thumbnail Cache Not Working on Large Number of Files

Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).
We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.
When attaching an Image, please use the Attachment tab at the bottom of your post and click "Add files".

Re: Thumbnail Cache Not Working on Large Number of Files
Yes, unfortunately I could reproduce this problem. It's a memory issue. I have 512MB RAM and could create about 600 thumbs sized 128 x 128, more than that would result in what you described.
At the moment I can only offer an obvious workaround: reduce the number of pics per folder, or the size of the thumbnails.
And, the next version will tell you if it failed to write the cache.

Can't use this due to limitations on # of thumbnails
I currently have over 36,000 photos on this computer. It will gather then using the "FIND" option. But them it ties up the program while it draws the thumbnails. For instance, right now it says, "Creating thumb 12790/36455. (Press ESC to abort.) Once it gets to the end, it starts over... so I can't never get control to save the file for another program to use.
I hope that somewhere in the future, the limit of thumbnails can be related only to the memory your computer has. Again, thanks for putting such an awesome program out there for ME and for FREE! I just wish I could take advantage of it! It is KILLING me that this doesn't work!
QUESTION: I NEED these thumbnails with each file name!!!!! Is it possible to save these reports WITH the thumbnails attached to each file, rather than just a text file?
Regards,
A.

I hope so, too! It's on top of my todo-list for version 4.10.EdwinMcCainMessenger wrote:I hope that somewhere in the future, the limit of thumbnails can be related only to the memory your computer has.
You mean an HTML-format, for example?EdwinMcCainMessenger wrote:QUESTION: I NEED these thumbnails with each file name!!!!! Is it possible to save these reports WITH the thumbnails attached to each file, rather than just a text file?

I would love to be able to PRINT a report. But with thousands of photos on my hard drive, it would be better to import it into EXCEL WITH the photos. That way I could see it all, but not have to print it. Or print parts of it.
The main details I use besides the thumbnail of the print are standard fields like Date Created, Date Modified, Size of file, etc. Other details would be icing on the cake.
THE BIG QUESTION IS THIS: Can you put me on a mailing list to be NOTIFIED of the new version????
Thanks again...

I think you will find some image view app that does the trick.
But help is near: log into the forum and watch this topic: http://www.trackerv3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4 Then you'll be notified whenever I upload a new BETA version.
The small answer is: there is no mailing list.EdwinMcCainMessenger wrote:THE BIG QUESTION IS THIS: Can you put me on a mailing list to be NOTIFIED of the new version????
