Default jpg viewer.

I am using an app called VuePrint to view photos. It is installed and is operating correctly with other apps. It is set as the default app.
I have tried to set it as a file association in XYplorer, but it either comes up with a list of programs for me to select as the program of choice, or I get the error "Associated application not found. Open the file with the application associated with it in the registry." When I click ok, I get taken back to the list of possible choices. Is there an easy way to set the default program for .jpg or .jpegs?

In an update, both jpg and jpeg are set in xyplorer and the vueprint is set as the default app for both of the extensions. I can open up a .jpeg file but not a .jpg file in xyplorer unless I go through the pick list.
