Branch view new folder subfolder creation order
Branch view new folder subfolder creation order
In Branch View, can you add a feature to allow new folder subfolder creation to be placed under the selected subfolder? So what I mean is when I've selected a subfolder and make a new folder, it always goes to the root directory tree rather than making a subfolder under the selected folder, which is what I'd prefer.

Re: Branch view new folder subfolder creation order
Something like "Create New Subfolder Here", which already exists for the tree (Miscellaneous | Tree | Create New Subfolder Here). Might be an idea, I'll consider it.
@all: Or is it natural to just do "Create New Subfolder Here" on Ctrl+N if a folder is selected in the Branch View?

Makes sense and I'd like it that way@all: Or is it natural to just do "Create New Subfolder Here" on Ctrl+N if a folder is selected in the Branch View?

Same here. So I'll just do it.

Re: Branch view new folder subfolder creation order
Had to add an exception case (to match the real idea behind this, which is to stay within the level):
Code: Select all
+ Branch View: Slightly changed the behavior of the New Folder command in this
context:
- When a folder is selected and you choose Edit | New | New Folder
(Ctrl+N), that folder is now created as a subfolder of the selected folder.
- When a file is selected and you choose Edit | New | New Folder
(Ctrl+N), that folder is now created as a subfolder of that file's parent folder.
- One exception: If an empty folder is selected, it is treated as a file in this
respect. Try it and you'll see that it makes sense.

Re: Branch view new folder subfolder creation order
Update. Now it also works with New Text File:
Code: Select all
+ Branch View: Slightly changed the behavior of the New Folder and New Text File
commands in this context:
- When a folder is focused and you choose Edit | New | New Folder (Ctrl+N) or Edit |
New | New Text File (Ctrl+Shift+N), that new item is now created within the focused
folder.
- When a file is focused and you choose Edit | New | New Folder (Ctrl+N) or Edit |
New | New Text File (Ctrl+Shift+N), that new item is now created as a sibling of
that file.
- One exception: If an empty folder is focused, it is treated as a file in this
respect. Try it and you'll see that it makes sense.

Useful and logical additions.

Re: Branch view new folder subfolder creation order
Thanks for adding this!
Can Ctrl+V (from copy paste) also work when you focus a folder in Branch View? As in paste to that subfolder, rather than root? The target also wants to be root for paste. It would be good for it to match the new subfolder creation method.

Re: Branch view new folder subfolder creation order
Can Edit->New Items have same branch view creation location behaviour change? (there I have New Word, new Excel, new txt, new zip, new folder)
I know the other menu "New" works but I don't think the "New Items" one works yet.
