Vista special folders.

Question on special folders in Vista. Note that I am using Vista x64 SP1, though I do not believe that matters in this case.

It's strange but when I attempted to browse to the folder
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
It's not there. The C:\windows\system32\drivers is, just not etc. The only way I've been able to see this folder, is with explorer. Nothing else seems to be able to see it.

Vista has some special permissions on this folder. Has anyone else noticed any more sudo folders like this?

It sounds to me like this is the WOW64 redirection, but I never fully understood that issue.

And you can try changing it under View->Show Items-> WOW64 Redirection

TheQwerty's answer is what I'd have given also...I don't have Vista but I've understood that is the case.

Was a bit surprised to see this thread in the "Reviews" forum, as it would be more of a "Tip, Trick, Q&A" and the other thread is located there...

I have no problems browsing to that folder, even when logged in under a Standard user account. Of course, the computer I'm at right now was upgraded to Vista from WinXP...maybe that's the difference?? When I get home tonight I'll check my computer there, which is a full-version install of Vista.

Oops, sorry selected the incorrect group. The problem lies with WOW64 redirection. Turning it off and the folder magically appears. Another oddity with Vista x64. To give it credit, it typically has minor issues that can be over come, and seems much faster to me, than 32 bit vista. But I wish I could use good ole XP at work.

I will say that this product has exceed all my expectations so far. Keep up the good work. Much need improvement over Vista's Windows Explorer.
