Preview of some video files is not working

Post by 1024mb »

I have one mkv file with a MPEG video track and when I hover over the file I get this:

Code: Select all

Error: 6 (0x00000006)
Desc: Overflow
Dll: 0
Proc: hb_GetThumbnail@130: 15. Nuestro amor.mkv - 704x480

Source: XYplorer
XY ver: XYplorer 23.90.0009 - Lifetime License Enterprise
OS: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, 64-bit, Version 22H2, Build 19045.2251 (10.0)
Locale: 2058 (es-MX)
ANSI: 1252, ACP: 1252 (ANSI - Latín I)
Font: Trebuchet MS 14.25, Trebuchet MS 9.75, DBCS: No
DPI: 96 (100%), 1920x1080

Date: 2022-12-22 18:50:48
The video file has been remuxed from a MPG container to the Matroska one. Hovering the MPG file works without problems.
Other MKV files with AVC (Main - Level 3) tracks also error with the same message, but MKVs with AVC (High - Level 4.1) tracks work without problems.
Also I have tested an AVI file with a Xvid track and it's also failing with the same message, as nobody was reporting this I thought it was my machine so I waited some days and rebooted but I still have the same problems, even updated K-Lite.

Unfortunately I don't get the error here. Is this a new problem for you?

Yes, this is new, it worked well before or at least I didn't find any problems. I just tried my other (portable) instance and even after updating it to latest beta it still works without problems so it must be a configuration but I haven't changed anything in these past days. I tried disabling the 64-bit preview handlers to no avail. You have any ideas? Shouldn't it be failing in every instance?

Yes, that solved it. I set it to 1 and no more error messages. Thanks

It was 2, haven't touched that for a long time.

The factory default is 0. This should work for you as well.

Mine is set to zero and I still get the thumbnail error on some videos:

It's not a link. These are videos I have downloaded from various sources, mainly YouTube. If I click on a folder containing these videos I get that error as XYplorer displays/renders the thumbnails of the videos in that folder. If the window has 4 thumbnails then I have to close the error 4 times, etc.. I do not have preview play enabled, it's just when the thumbnails are opening, and what's really strange is it only happens with certain videos and certain folders. Most of the folders I click on that contain video clips don't do that, and I have no idea what is different about these other folder and clips that would cause this.
