XYplorer opening with all drives closed

Post by Ricardo »

I am new to XYplorer and so these may be a stupid questions.

1. I have been unable to get XY to start up showing only my 14 drives closed. It keeps on opening as it was when I last closed. it.

2. Is it possible to have XY on the desktop right click menu.

Help much appreciated!

1. Enter MyComputer into "Permanent startup path" in Configuration / Startup & Exit.

2. I don't think so. What should it do there anyway?

I had already tried that .... or at least to the Spanish equivalent of Equipo ... but it did not work. I tried it again but it keeps on opening at the same place where I last finnished.

Hmm, check two things:
(1) ensure you have "Save settings on exit" enabled? (on Configuration / Startup & Exit. )

(2) Watch the spelling and capitalization of "Equipo" -- it must be identical to the one you see in the tree.

I have finally got it to work! :D

I closed the program, deleted all shortcuts and created a new one. Startup and Exit settings are with 'Open new instances always' ticked on and 'Save setting on exit' turned off.

Personally I feel that XY should do that by default .... just like My Computer.

Appreciate your help.

I don't know how you start XY, but there is no direct connection between 'Open new instances always' , 'Save setting on exit' and "Permanent startup path". If you state a permanent startup path AND do pot pass a startup path via command line, you will startup at the permanent startup path.

I did not explain fully in my last post because I thought that it was understood that I already had the Startup path setup to Equipo, but as I explained in a previous post that did not work despite the fact that I redid it at least 4 times. And so I than tried other things like a new shortcut and changing settings as in my last post. It than worked perfectly and it still does. I do not claim those changes caused it to work but after I made them it worked and that is all that matters. I now also have 'Startup minimized', 'Startup to tray' and 'Minimize to tray on X close' ticked on. Once again thanks for your interest.
