Hi guys, I guess the below is a bug because it's gotta be unwanted behavior. Here is the problem :
When a file is downloading into a folder, and that downloading filename is in view in the pane, then ALL the filenames that are in view in that pane will flash on/off on/off etc (almost looks like they are bouncing) until you scroll either up or down to get that downloading filename out of view. Then all the filenames are steady again, the flashing has stopped. This is with auto-refresh turned on (which am pretty sure that 99% of us have turned on). If you turn auto-refresh off then there is no flashing even with the downloading file in view. But of course we want auto-refresh on. I clicked between Small Icons, Large Icons & List and this had no effect, always had the flashing.
Edit: Another way to make all the filenames stop flashing instead of scrolling the downloading file out of view is to bring your mouse cursor up to the top of XYplorer window. That seems to calm it down and the flashing stops. But click refresh then the flashing starts all over again....
Can this be looked at please? Cheers...

I cannot see that here.
- Which Windows version?
- How many files are in that folder?
- Any custom columns in the list?

Re: All file names flashing on/off when file that is downloading is in view
HI, thanks for your reply...
- Which Windows version? -- Windows 7
- How many files are in that folder? -- About 1,000 currently. So I made a new empty folder and kept the same view settings and downloaded into it and there was no flashing. So I guess the flashing is because there are a lot of files in my download folder? But can that be fixed please?

I tested it with much larger folders and see no flashing. There must be another factor. Can you provide a screenshot of the list while the download is in progress?

Re: All file names flashing on/off when file that is downloading is in view
Wow, cool... I was able to figure out the bug prob more exactly. So in the empty download folder that I mentioned before that I had created just to test it out I had kept the same small icons (sort order : Created Ascending) but I didn't do any manual sorting beforehand. Yep, you guessed it, the flashing is now happening when files are being downloaded into the test folder after manual sorting some stuff in there while before it wasn't when I hadn't manual sorted anything. All I did was create three empty test folders, then manually moved them around, then downloaded the same file into that folder and flash flash flash. Before manually sorting there was no flash flash flash.
So then went back to the Sort Settings and reselected sort order "Created Ascending" for the test folder because that had been automatically unticked by XYplorer because I had manually moved those empty folder around, then redownloaded that same file into the test folder and no flashing. So manually moving files around before download is initiated is def causing the flashing.
Further testing : Manually moving those folders around in that folder while a file is being actively downloaded into it does not cause flashing if you hadn't manually moved files around beforehand. But when a new download is initiated then the flashing starts anew because you had manually sorted and your sort order got unticked.
Hope you can duplicate it now :-)

Okay, good you found it.
Recreating a manual sort order for 1000 files takes a while. I don't think I have anything to do here.

Re: All file names flashing on/off when file that is downloading is in view
Hi admin, oh you misunderstood me... I had figured out in my last post that 1000 files has nothing to do with the flashing. The problem is caused by downloading into a folder that has been manually sorted, doesn't matter how many files are in there.
For the test "download" folder I only had three empty folders but manually sorted those three test folders (just dragged one in front of the other, that's it) and yet when I downloaded a file into that test folder those three folder file names plus the download file name all flashed on/off on/off. The flashing is even more pronounced (much more evident & persistent) when three or more files are being downloaded into the folder at the same time.
So the bug should actually be defined as : "Downloading files into a manually sorted folder causes all file names that are in the folder that are in view of the pane to flash on/off when the downloading file is in view of the pane (you can see the downloading file in the pane). Scrolling the downloading filename out of the view of the pane (scrolling so you can't see the downloading filename anymore) or moving the mouse cursor to the top of the XYplorer GUI makes the flashing stop. But when the folder is refreshed the flashing starts again if the downloading filename is again in view on the pane. If the folder you are downloading into has NOT been manually sorted then there is no filename flashing."

Oh yes, you are right.
Should be fixed in next beta.
