:info: Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

"Auto-replace invalid characters" doesn't work if empty

Post by John_C »

1. Enable "Auto-replace invalid characters" in the "Configuration | Sort and Rename"
2. Make sure the field "Character to replace invalid characters..." in the ""Configuration | Templates" is empty
3. Create a new file and try to rename it to foo?bar (with the question mark)
4. The resulting file name will be just foobar

It was expected that the question mark will be replaced with the period instead of simply disappearing.
Auto-replace invalid characters

If ticked then invalid characters in pasted or typed input are replaced by the character defined at Character to replace invalid characters in dropped messages (in Templates). If no character is defined then "." (dot) is used.

Applies to inline rename in Tree and List as well as to dialog based rename (see above Use dialog to rename single items).
Return to step #2 and replace the empty field with something like @. Now replacing invalid characters works as expected. An attempt to enter the file name foo?bar will result to foo@bar

Looks like this line in the help is outdated: If no character is defined then "." (dot) is used.

So it should be something like "If no character is defined then nothing is used", right?
