I have not decided yet to buy XYPlorer, there are two considerations:
I use to place short cuts like for C:\Users\Bart\Documents\holiday etc., so I
can easily access folder locations with one click. How to perform this in XYplorer?

Help file missing?? On which version/file?vdongen wrote:Where can I find the Catalog? By the way, the help file is missing...
For more details than the Help file may provide, check out the wiki:

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

This is the message:

(1) right-click the item(s) and select "Create Shortcut" from the Shell menu (the item may be in your local language!).
(2) Drag'n'drop the item(s) with the right mouse, then select "Create Shortcut(s) Here".
(3) Copy the item(s), then select menu Edit | Paste Special | Paste Shortcut(s).

Sorry to say: have the problem on WXP! Reason seams to be using XY from non-administrative account ('Hauptbenutzer').admin wrote:Please, see http://www.xyplorer.com/faq.htm#vistahelpvdongen wrote:By the way, the help file is missing...Bart
When starting XY with 'runas' under administrative user, help is shown without a problem. And then, after stopping and starting XY again as 'Hauptbenutzer', the problem is gone

That might be the reason. Unfortunately, there's no way (I know of) to disable writing the GID file.PeterH wrote:Sorry to say: have the problem on WXP! Verification shows: XYplorer.GID just has been written (modified) - 'Hauptbenutzer' might not have the right to do that?
I'm so fed up with HELP format -- I almost understand MS to get rid of it...

Dunno.PeterH wrote:Am I right thinking that the .GID is only written (modified) on first help-access after the .hlp-file had any chg?
If so, could it be possible to suply the .GID with XY-install? (Or are there any dependencies of the .GID to the local system, like Windows- or help-version, etc?)
