Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).
We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Open new instance always
In 7.0, the option "Open new instance always" is always active, even if the option is unchecked in the preferences.

Re: Open new instance always
Funny: there was indeed a bug here, but the opposite one! "Open new instance always" was never active. Fixed that one.Adequat wrote:In 7.0, the option "Open new instance always" is always active, even if the option is unchecked in the preferences.
What you think is a bug is actually a misunderstanding: XYplorer only reuses any previous instance if it is called with command line parameters, and if "Open new instance always" is off.
A simple run of a second instance will always open a second instance.
I admit that "Open new instance always" is misleadingly termed. I open for ideas...

I just saw that I wisely had added a tooltip to the checkbox, which is already a bit better than the checkbox caption.j_c_hallgren wrote:"Reuse session on command line invocation"?
The crucial condition is: if the commandline contains a startpath then any previous instance is reused if "Open new instance always" is OFF.
So I would change the tooltip to:
"Uncheck to re-use an already running previous instance if the new instance is called with a startpath in the commandline."
Okay?

Hmm, I don't think this ever worked in the past. XYplorer/TrackerV3 has always been multi-instance. Only some years ago I added the option to reuse the current instance when XY was started with a startpath in the command line.Adequat wrote:Several instances of XYplorer can be running in parallel. I wish, when launching XYplorer and an instance is already running, to have this version activated rather than creating a new instance. This used to work in the past.
