Arrows work strange in dialogs

Post by LittleBiG »

Using the left and right arrows in a dialog (practically in any ddialogs) for choosing a button like OK or Cancel can go into the dialog text if you press them more times in the same direction. I would expect them to cycle on the buttons only. First time when it happened I accidentally pressed one of the arrows more than it would have been necessary and the focus disappeared from the buttons. I was perplexed where it could go. Then I noticed the cursor in the dialog text.

There must be a way to enter the text box by keys.

Yeah, I expected something like this, that it is by design. Anyway, it is pretty unique, to put it mildly, I have never seen anything like this. Also, it works in a very strange way. If I am on the OK button and start to press the Right more times, the cycle is like this: OK - Cancel - OK - Text :eh: To the right direction from ok? I might understand the left, but right just feels akward. I am just wondering, why you didn't use the Up for reaching the text. Would be more natural. Or the text part to be assigned to the TAB cycle.

The control I have over this is the sequence of controls, nothing else.

TAB, Right, Down = forward
Shift+TAB, Left, Up = backward

TAB, Right, Down = forward
Shift+TAB, Left, Up = backward
TAB leaves out the text completely
Starting on OK, the forward "Right" of Cancel should be "Text" But it is "OK" again, then back to Text. Like the forward would change to backward.

The confirmation ones for sure. Like the delete or wipe confirmation.
Also the List of all commands.

Hmm, I don't really know what to improve. Works okay to me.

I see now. Pressing "Right" after Cancel the cursor is indeed in the Text field. But somehow at the same time, visually, a frame jumps back to the OK. That misled me.
