Drag & Drop Images from Firefox

Post by audiessy »

Hey,

So I've looked around for this solution down to the "WorkAroundFirefox3ImageDropBug=1" years ago by editing the configuration file, making sure Shell Integration "Use standard shell drag and drop" is checked, opening both Firefox and XYplorer in admin, and disabling "Mouse Down Blow Up". I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and could really use the expertise of those far well-versed in this task than I am. Might also help those who are stumped in the future.

Thanks!

EDIT: I've read that it's not possible with Windows. I can DnD an image from Firefox to my desktop, just not directly in a XYplorer folder. Any explanation of why this can work but not in XYplorer would be appreciated.

it may be smt about evaluation, try experimenting with "Run as Administator" for Firefox and XY.

I just tested this with both FF and XY running as std user and it works for some images but not all.
So far the only common denominator with the ones that don't work is that their names usually contain spaces.

Always ran as Administrator for both XYplorer and Firefox. Somehow I got it to work though by not running it as admin.

If anyone else knows why this is, let me know. In the meantime I guess that's what I'm going, haha.

test image with spaces in the name:

... well, that did not work out as a test, the file name has been auto-changed to "file.jpg".

Can you point me to a problem image?

Quickly tested this again but couldn't find one that didn't work.
Maybe the OP is of more help?

Hi admin, This has worked for me in the past but hasn't done for years. I can't drag'n'drop any image type from any browser. I've tried Firefox, Chrome and Edge. I don't get any errors or messages - the images just don't download. It works for Windows Explorer. Browser and XY are set to run as administrator.
