"The portable file manager"
I was starting to wonder whether this "tag line" (or how do you call this?) really grasps the nature of the beast.
And whether it might be misleading people to think "Okay, fine, but I rarely travel, so why should I use a portable one, I rather go look for a real heavy home/office file manager."
Also, nowadays, portability is not that rare anymore as it was some years ago when XYplorer/TrackerV3 was the only portable file manager you could get.
What do you think? Should I look for a new tag? Any ideas?

First thoughts in just a few min is: "The portable yet powerful file manager"...
or "A heavy duty file manager with a lightweight footprint"...
or "The power of a truck in a sports car package"...ehh? Not that good.

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Being a portable app probably still attracts people to XY, but I agree, there are more powerful features behind it, that could attract more people if found in the tag line.
You could soon call it "The fully scriptable file manager" though I liked JC's ideas as well.
I think the general idea of this tag line should be to ignite curiosity and make people wanna find out more about it, because whatever tag line you use, it will never cover all the goodies of XY and therefore would only "catch" some of the future potential beneficiaries of it.
Just my 2ct

Exactly.PeterH wrote:I'm also afraid it could mislead, as it seams to say it's especially a portable app, and "not so good" for "normal" use. So the portable attribute should have "high priority", but not be "the priority".
I can see the following main characteristics:
(1) Configurability, Favorites, Catalog, UDC, and Scripting = Shape your tool to be maximally efficient for you
(2) Portability
(3) Lightness and Speed
(4) Multi-tabbed, Tree-List-Navigation
(5) Stable and Good-Looking
I want to have "file manager/management" in the tag, just to make sure what's it all about. And, of course, I don't want any empty promo blurb.
What about this:
File Management. Your Way.
It covers point (1), and, with a little twist, also point (2).

Well, it does says concisely...however, we both know that for a number of people, it's not presently true due to just one item: DP! That is, the lack of it...'cause for them to get it "Your Way", it'd need to have that as minimum...so...I think there may be another slogan that avoids this issue...not sure what exactly, but I'm sure we'll find one.admin wrote:What about this:

Not petite enough. It should not have more than 25 characters or I get layout problems.j_c_hallgren wrote:Maybe "The petite, portable, powerful and personalized file manager"?

I still think you could reduce font size a hair, and put this on two lines:
"The powerful, personalized,
portable file manager"
That would also overlay the briefcase pix somewhat less...
