XYplorer goes grey (inactive) for unknown...

...reasons with a constant hourglass mouse cursor. The following have been tried:

1. Clicking on the upper right Red X launches a popup dialogue box which reads:
Microsoft Windows
The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait.
Do you want to end this process?
<End Process> <Cancel>

Clicking on <End Process> is ignored.

2. Task Manager "End task" function is ignored.

3. Attempts to close via the taskbar "Task View" function are ignored.

Sometimes the whole pc is frozen up. Thanks for any help. I know you are busy.

ps
I forgot to mention I'm using the latest version, altho the problem occurred with the previous version also.
And I'm using current update of Win10.
I went ahead and tried an unsuccessful reboot or two and eventually took the opportunity to return to a Restore Point (dated 28Feb'19); i was very surprised that the restore actually completed; i have not seen a successful reversion of Win10 to a Restore Point in years. LOL.

Well, that could be many things. But most of the time it's previewing PDFs using the Adobe preview handler...

I fear you have to give me some pattern to inspire me more...

Thanks Admin !

I use Foxit rather than Adobe (Adobe is Way too invasive for me) and can't remember the last time i used the preview function.

I just reinstalled v19.70.0100 and will watch for any pattern(s) which lead to

- XYplorer going grey with a neverending hourglass mouse cursor while reporting "not responding",
- deny attempts to close via Task Manager "End task", or via Taskbar TaskView icon,
- disable <Alt-Tab>ing between running tasks, and
- disappear the TaskBar making Shut Down impossible.
- etc.
