Context menu position

If I open the Context menu with the Applications Menu Key then the menu is displayed where the mouse pointer is. Since I park my mouse bottom screen right the menu appears there which, on a 24" monitor, is not very convenient. Can the menu open on the focused item if the Applications Menu Key is used, which seems to be the standard.

Just realised, it also applies to the Breadcrumb - Ctrl+Backspace.

By the active tab I think would be the most logical.

I'm not sure if I would like that. Tab List, Hot List, Drives, Special System Folders, etc. all open where the mouse pointer is when you press the CKS, and I really like it that way.

Well, I tried several possibilities in Explorer and decided it's not worth it. Look how complex it becomes:

Menu pos:
- the focused is selected: focused item pos (icon center)
- if focus is unselected: the top one of all selected items pos (icon center)
- the relevant item is scrolled out of view (Xwise, Ywise): well, some negotitation is going on here...

It's so much easier (to do and to understand) to simply pop it at the mouse cursor.

My post referred solely to your suggestion about the Breadcrumb. I wasn't able to provide any arguments, I just said that I prefer it the way it is. I really didn't want to express that your idea is bad as such, it only was my personal opinion.

I'm also half-convinced that it's not very logical to popup a menu that was triggered via keyboard at the mouse cursor position. Actually I think the best place for all of those menus (breadcrumb, hotlist, drives...) would be in the top/left corner of the tree (or list, if tree is hidden).

It may be crazy, but yes, I trigger the popup by CKS and then select the command by mouse. For me it is just faster this way compared to searching (and moving the mouse cursor to the button) and pressing the button on the Toolbar.

Yeah, of course, but let me explain. I assigned F1, F2, etc. to Hotlist, Tab List, etc. So I can press the CKS with my left hand, the popup opens, and I select the command by mouse. For me that's the fastest way I've found...

Yep, add my name to the list! I do use such things as History or Hotlist through CKS only, and I really want/need them to popup at mouse position!

In fact, the same is true for a few other menus I assigned CKS to, like To Clipboard or UDC|Open With, etc. Whether I actually use the keyboard or not, it's always much better/faster/more natural - to me - to go thay way.

Sound like a job for either a config option or INI tweak! That way, you can take your choice...ok, so it may be more complicated, but given as to the totally different ways we use the product, it may be best solution.
