Version info in XY

Post by graham »

Many times I find with the release of a new version I need to access the change info. Loading this into the browser is often a pain having to switch between XY and the browser.

Could this be provided with each release in the form of an htm file so that it could be viewed from within XY as a previewed file or even better displayed from Help in a window.

I'd asked for something similar back in Apr 2006 in this thread:
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=659

However, this TXT file is only updated at "official" release times so for the interim beta's, you're kinda limited now to reading the beta forum thread
--or--
If you don't mind waiting a bit (sometimes minutes, typically a few hours, or one time, a day or so, until I get it updated), you could read this info in my blog at
http://xyplorer.blogspot.com
and you can even have the updates emailed to you daily, if you subscribe to that feed..

Now IF you want to see the blog in XY, you can do a "Save As - Web page, HTML only" (IE) from your browser and store it locally, and then view the HTM file in Info Panel...and, it would then seem that you'd maybe be able to view any updates via this file without having to re-save, as it goes to web site for embeded links.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Thanks JC for your help.

I am not really having any hardship with this as the release info is available when I download the update and I can read it in a browser. I was merely suggesting that to have the info packaged with the XY update (beta or whatever) and readable either in text or htm within XY would be nice. In no way essential but very much more convenient and readily at hand.

Too much trouble for almost daily beta releases. Let's keep beta releases at least a little less comfortable than official releases.
