Inexplicable copy/move glitch

Post by maxidoodle »

Just purchased program a couple of weeks ago; really like it. About a week ago, though, a glitch happened that has me perplexed.

Was doing a simple copy/move operation of files/folders to my external hard drive (C-->E). When done, the program inexplicably closed unexpectedly and upon re-opening XYplorer, all of the files I had just copied/moved were back on C drive but still copied/moved to the external drive!!!!

Needless to say, I'm scratching my head going "what the....???" Has anybody else had this happen? I'm a little leery of attempting the same operation again but I suppose I need to see if it happens again.

Help? Thanks.

Not sure why the program closed (probz 1 off glitch), but it sounds like you just copied the files, not moved them. By default when you drag to an external drive it copies instead of the default move operation you might be used to that happens when transferring on the same drive, you can control which happens by using the Ctrl button when you are dragging the files.

Thanks for your reply. I did copy some of the files, but I was also moving files and on either operation I was not dragging because I haven't memorized those commands yet  ; I used the right-click context menu and either "copy to other pane" or "move to other pane."

For the time being, I'll consider what happened a one-off glitch. I'll try these operations again with my external drive and see what happens and should it reoccur, I'll post back here.
