quicksearch() - Support for GFTs

It supports multiple filetypes separated via ; already but it would be nice
if there were support for generic file types as well ({:Video}, ...)

Are you talking about the /types switch?, because that already supports GFTs.

Pattern syntax is already too complex / too overloaded for this. Adding this on top would just make it explode I think.

Yes, the /types switch supports it and it's a good and safe place for it (though admittedly not as practical).
