Maybe you tell us what you were searching and which settings in the search you've used to find it?
"Hey, I didn't find what I was looking for" isn't really helpful...

Apologies for the inadequate information. Searching for an .odt file. Used a unique piece of text which I knew was not in any other file, namely the Latin term 'praeteritio.'
Name and location: %\Dropbox. 'Include subfolders' checked.
Size: left empty
Date: none
Attributes: none
Tags: None
Contents: praeteritio
Dupdes: none
Excluded: none

Since now you have told us you were doing contents search, you may need to read this:
https://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=contentsearch
I can't confirm the Apache OO advice given in the above link
Agent Ransack may be helpful as a companion app for contents search of Office documents:
https://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/
And a script to integrate it in XY:

Perhaps you might consider a large, easy to read notice that the 'contents' search does not search for texts in files, and that the user needs to install other apps to make it work. And that asking about this on the forums risked getting sneered at.

I don't really see why you felt sneered at in the process of other forum members trying to help you with this problem.
It's really amazing how you expect us to read your mind and come up with solutions to problems you can't even describe in a way to enable others to help you.
As one can find in various places on this forum there are a few problems that are persistent due to the 32-bit architecture of XY but for most of them there are workarounds available which I admit might not always be as straightforward as you would expect but in the end it is always your decision whether the whole package of XY's awesomeness in most areas is worth the small price of a few shortcomings in others?
If yes, we will keep trying to help you make the most of it, if not, good luck out there with the competition.
