The preview doesn't work with word and excel files

I am a new user of XYp, the App is wanderful except the preview function. My system is Win10, the office version is 2016, the preview of other type like PDF or pictures is fine, but it didn't work on word or excel files. How could I do ?

The free Apache OpenOffice on the other hand works very well with XYplorer and also handles DOC and DOCX files and many other Office formats, also on a 64-bit system.

Did you try that?

On a fresh Windows 7 x86 VM and the current OO version (4.1.5):
- It doesn't install a preview handler at all
- It can read e.g. .docx files (but the support for non-standard layouts is more than limited) but is not able to create new or save an already loaded one as .docx again (it's writer component doesn't support it)

-> Neither Windows Explorer nor XY show a content preview even for a simple .doc file...

Wow, I'm sure this worked, but you are right: It does not work at all on my current Win 8.1 system. Too bad. I will remove this info.

Thanks everyone replied to me. I reinstalled the office2016 (64bit) and all the problem had gone away, now the xyplorer works good with doc or xls files.

Interesting! I wouldn't have thought it was so easy. So office2016 *does* install the 32-bit preview handlers now???
