Whilst the man is cutting code deep into the night it is time to stock up wishes. I make no apologies as he has said he will not take time out.
I searched through to see if this has been requested before and apologise if I missed it. I use the jpg preview blow up a lot and it is a very useful feature and certainly one which impresses people new to XYP.
As part of my daily work I need to find and examine pdf files and the preview is not so good in this regard as the preview is just a small top view. I either have to load the pdf fully or scroll through the preview.
Now if it is possible to 'blow up' the pdf preview in the same way as a jpg then I could quickly find the exact pdf drawing I need. The next extension to this is for the blow up feature to apply to other previews such as doc files etc.
So my wish is once the coding pressure has passed can you blow up some previews?

Well, back in Jan 07, I posted the following thread that may relate: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=1242graham wrote:I searched through to see if this has been requested before and apologise if I missed it. I was requesting something similar, so take a look at that and see what you think, ok?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

I realise to do the same for MS office files is impossible but simple text files are also feasible.
I would not dare to suggest how this could be done program-wise but maybe on left click it could open a temporary new large window which expires when the mouse button is lifted. Since XYP has the capability to create a window in the lower window area I guess it could equally create a new window with contents!
I think we both see the same need and benefit. I sift through many pdf drawings daily searching for a detail then this facility would be very valuable and massively time saving.
The other option currently available is to emulate this by selecting a batch of pdf files and open with AR8 but this then requires closing each and takes a lot more time.
Yes I missed that and I'm not at all surprised. It seems we think along very similar lines and needs. What I want, wish for is exactly the same 'blow up' as you get with an image. I need to see the complete document but quickly to scan it. I have optimised adobe 8 reader to give a quick display speed but seeing only a partial view is not a great help. What I particularly like with the image blow up is how you can use left click and move around the image to inspect all of it.I was requesting something similar, so take a look at that and see what you think, ok?

Well, part of the reason why I suggested a larger Info Panel overlay was that many of the PDF's that I'd be previewing are multi-page, in some cases manuals/documentation of 50+ pages, so just being able to view the first page wouldn't do much for me, and that's what I envison a MDBU style preview would only do...whereas having an almost full-screen IP would also allow one to use the features of your reader, such as search, zoom, navigation, etc...
Ok, so it takes a bit longer sometimes to load since Adobe or similar has to load/run, but the ability to use full features makes up for that, at least to me...
Now I do have some PDF's that are single page, but they tend to be alternate copies of screen prints that I have in JPG form also, so I can look at those much easier/quicker.
