I'm getting some weird icon caching issues with 6.30.0044.
I have a program I just compiled. XY shows the icon that was used when I first created it, I then compiled again overwriting the original with an EXE that hasn't changed except for it has a custom icon, and XY doesn't update the icon.
I refresh the cache and it updates to the new icon.
That's all expected behavior and functioning correctly.
What follows, is not..
I then hit F5 in the list and the original icon for the file is back. Refresh the list cache, new icon. Hit Change or Refresh the List View, old icon. Switch tabs and come back, old icon. Switch directories and return, old icon.
The program was also in the catalog and I can't get that entry to update at all unless I restart XY. "Refresh the cache" and "refresh all icons" (they're the same function no?) do not work.
So the catalog cache refreshing for programs just seems busted and the list caching doesn't seem to take.
I tested it with a shortcut as well and that updates properly so it seems to just be an issue with programs.
Anyone else seeing similar behavior?

Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).
We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.
When attaching an Image, please use the Attachment tab at the bottom of your post and click "Add files".

Re: Icon Caching Borked?
What you experience is a (rarely surfacing) bug in the Windows shell icon cache. Turn off "Cache specific icons" in conf/advanced. That should do it.

Refresh icons in catalog ctx menu does not help?TheQwerty wrote:Ah ha! Had I looked at that option in the Wiki I'd have saved some time.
That works for the list, but the catalog still doesn't seem to update. Is there a separate option for that?

Which does not take much more time than clicking a menu option.TheQwerty wrote:Nope. Nor does View -> Caches -> Refresh Catalog Icons Cache.admin wrote:Refresh icons in catalog ctx menu does not help?
Only way I've found to get it to update was to restart XY.
