Simple EXE file update wanted

Post by pat55 »

Simple single EXE file update wanted.

I just hate this ZIP unpacking and then finding which to click next - being lectured about unpacking-
at the same time both AVG and the M$ virus programs must be bypassed because this is legacy software.

I have no clue what was resolved previously.
Does this not make sense to anybody except me?

you want XY to automatically extract an installer archive and run the installer? This can be scripted, but won't be 100% successful.

Somehow all other companies seem to have this ability.
Thanks for at least having an interest in the subject.

Why not simply use Help | Online Support | Check for Updates? No unzipping involved, all automatic.

(ooh, so just XY update? I assumed you were arbitrary software setup archives. As Don has said above, XY updates are now buttery smooth.)

What link?

Were you previously running a version older than 17.40 by any chance? (self-update was added at that [major] version).
But now that you're on 18.60, update installs will definitely be automatic.

When a new version is released, just do Main menu > Help > Online Support > Check for Updates
You can also update to the latest beta version: Hold CTRL and click that menu item. (Betas are released more frequently -- so you won't have to wait too long to test out the update feature.)
