Found a little poll over at another forum:

XYplorer and Explorer are allies in combat against a gang of DualPaners... :) Currently things look like this:

Yes, but I wouldn't put them on the same footing. XY is a multi-tabbed single pane browser, whereas windows explorer is just a pain!

The poll seems to be finished:

72 voters is far from being a representative sample but more than nothing. Again the question arises: why of all these file managers only XYplorer was kicked out of wikipedia... (okay, Speed Commander and AB Commander are also missing from WP -- but look at their votes...).

Apparently yes, but it could be a false conclusion because practically all alternative file managers are (resp. feature) dual pane, or?
