Double clicking on .jpg does not open it

Post by zBernie »

If I double click on a .jpg in Windows Explorer (in Windows 10), it is opened in the Photos app. If I double click on a .jpg file in XYplorer, nothing happens. In XY I can right click and select Open from the context menu, that works.

Any idea why double clicking does not open .jpg files?

-Thanks

Absolutely nothing, not even a popup from Windows that there is no application assigned?

Menu - Tools - Customize File Associations...

Show a screenshot of that window

No, the application is definitely assigned, it is the MS Photos app. If I double click a .jpg in Windows Explorer it is opened in the Photos app.

I resolved the issue. In the screen shot shown in this thread, there was no .jpg item in portable file associations. When I just selected Tools -> Customize File Associations, this time there was a .jpg item. I unchecked it, and now .jpg files open in Photo.
