After performing a search using the search dialog, is there a way to save the search results to a file?
Just to clarify, I've already saved the search parameters as a search template. I'm just looking to save the results to a file. I can output them to a clipboard, then paste the clipboard into a text editor. But is there a way to save directly to a file?
I'm using XYPlorer 17.40 under Windows 10.
-Thanks

Re: How to save search results to a file?
You could use the Report tab, Current List tab, To File... but the resulting file would contain the data
of all visible columns...
A scripting command on the toolbar / catalog / etc. would work
E.g. if you want to store it in a fixed name in a fixed path:
or if you want to select the folder first
etc.

Code: Select all
writefile("<path to>\Search result.txt", <get ItemsPathNames <crlf>>);Code: Select all
$folder = inputfolder();
writefile("$folder\Search result.txt", <get ItemsPathNames <crlf>>);One of my scripts helped you out? Please donate via Paypal

Note that you can save the results right with the Search Template. Tick "Save search results" in the Search Templates dialog...
Can also be scipted using the new function searchtemplate()...
