Thumbnails for symlinked Video Files

Post by kko »

I have a folder that has a bunch of symlinks in it to both pictures and video files, xy generates thumbnails for the pictures without issue but all the video files - regardless of codec - show a white file icon. If I browse to the folder that actually has the video files in it, it works fine.

Is there anything I can tweak to make this work or is it a bug/limitation in thumb generation? I'm using 17.40.0002.

But you're actually in a subfolder (that is a symlink) when you're trying to display thumbnails?

I've tried it and (known) video file formats and pictures are processed correctly

Post a screenshot of Menu - Tools - Configuration... - Preview - Thumbnails

So the folder that I'm in is a real folder, the files inside that folder are all symlinked individually.

Looks like a bug, individually symlinked video files don't show a thumbnail regardless on configuration

Confirmed. Fixed in next version.

Note that Explorer is even worse: No thumbs also for symlinked images. :)

That's exactly why I use XY :) Thanks for the quick fix!

Has this bug re-appeared or have I got something weird in my setup?
I tried the default config but it didn't help (running 24.20.0010 beta)
Shortcut .lnks provide a thumbnail for both files and folders but fail with symlinks (they are local symlinks not networked)
