Actually, I don't really care about that. So, let me rephrase the question:
How/where do I make the list view the default view for ALL files and folders?

Free -> No folder view settings

Apart from that, details view is already the default in a fresh configuration so where exactly does XY use a different view mode?

I didn't mention detail view, did I?

I want to set LIST view for all folders as default!

Configuration | Colors and Styles | Styles | Remember list settings per tab
Either disable that or "View mode" when you click on the Apply to... button
